1 Dress, 5 Coords: Lemon Honey - Iced Lemon Soda JSK Challenge
Long time, no see! I've been pretty busy in most aspects of my life, even with the pandemic going on. With that said, I hope all of you are doing well, staying safe, and keeping a close eye on your health.
Something the 'Rona has taught me is that the Lolita community is extremely flexible. To see so many of my fashion friends still wearing their clothes and finding unique ways to interact with each other warms my heart. Shout-out to the creative minds of the Lolita community -- y'all are so inspiring!
Given that I have a closet full of dresses that need to be worn, I decided to do another 1 Dress, 5 Coords challenge. This time, I put looks together with my Iced Lemon Soda JSK from Lemon Honey. For some reason, this particular piece was a lot harder to coord than the last one.
Stock photo, I do not own! |
I noticed a few holes in my wardrobe when trying to coord this JSK. The good news is I anticipated that would happen with this dress, and I've already ordered plenty of items to fill in the gaps. The bad news? I bought a bunch of stuff, and now everything is stuck in shipping purgatory. Thanks, Ms. Rona, -_-
Anyway, let's get right into it!
"Classy Lemons"
"Classy Lemons" coord. |
I'm not sure if I would call this Classic Lolita, but I was certainly going for a classy/elegant vibe when I put it together. Having a "cute" print in a dark colorway makes it a tad difficult to branch out of the print's intended style, but I really liked the overall look of things.
Showing knees and leg! Scandalous! |
Y'all know it's hot in Texas. Now, imagine standing out in the Texas sun with triple digits temps, a petticoat, and a long sleeve blouse. Needless to say, after putting together my first coord for this challenge, I was ready to get down to the barest of coords.
Black x white coord. |
Out of all the coords I put together for this post, this one was my least favorite. I would definitely change the blouse in this coord, and I intended to, but unfortunately, I got too hot, :/
Punk-inspired coord. |
I love Punk Lolita. I want to wear it more often, even if I'm not very good at it. I'm not sure if others will love this coord, but I LOVE it! This is my favorite look out of all of them!
Thankfully, my neighbors didn't see me, XP |
I was aiming for something romantic with this coord, almost Ero, but I can't help but feel I missed the mark. I do actually like the coord, I just know it'll need some work to get to the look I had in mind. It's fine from the caplet up, but something went awry on the bottom half, :/
I am super biased, which means that the first and last coords in this lineup are my favourites! Classy retro vibes are so up my alley and even if the last coord doesn't read as Ero as you may have intended, it is still very elegant and sophisticated. This dress is definitely very versatile for you because you managed to pull 4 looks using just one colour (black) whilst keeping them all very distinct from each other. If you ever feel like experimenting again, maybe try coording this dress with pops of red (like maybe a red cardigan/bolero and shoe, with the rest in black or white)? That could make for a super cute, more kitchy/pop kind of sweet retro look, which I know you'd pull off really well!
