1 Dress, 5 Coords - Fanplusfriend Coord Challenge
I know, I know -- where the heck have I been? I'm sorry I disappeared off the face of the planet, but I'm back, :)
An awesome Facebook friend suggested a coord challenge to help get me back in the groove of creating content! Though the original suggestion was to make a lot more than 15 coords, I decided to limit myself to 5 because I was exhausted by the time I put my third coord together, haha.
There was a similar challenge a while back that involved using only 10 items from your wardrobe, but for this round, I was able to use whatever I wanted for each coord. I was pleasantly surprised to see what I came up with!
For my first attempt at this challenge, I grabbed "Ol' Faithful", my Fanplusfriend tartan dress. I've mentioned before that this JSK is one of my most prized pieces because no matter how I wear it, I always feel great! It's a versatile piece as well, as it has a lot of unique motifs and colors across the fabric.
Challenges like this also help me realize where the holes are in my wardrobe. For this particular post, I realized I don't have a lot of belts that I can wear with Lolita fashion, or in general, really. I also feel like I don't own enough pairs of Lolita shoes, but I already have plans to change that very soon.
Let's take a look at these coords!
My sweet friend Jess described this coord as "Going to the poetry slam" and honestly, that's exactly the vibe I was going for! Of the 5 coords I created, this was my absolute favorite! I think I'd change the wig to my brown one, but other than that, I reallllly love this look! It just looks so refined and sophisticated. *poetic snaps*
I hope all of my readers are doing well in these difficult times. Make sure to give yourself a lot of breaks, find outlets to help manage your stress, and try to stay safe.
Until next time, my wonderful readers~!

Let's take a look at these coords!
"Ol' Faithful"
Blouse - eBay Hat - Link OTKs - Angelic Pretty Coat of Arms Shoes: MoMo Victorian shoes |
I usually follow this color-blocking process when I'm wearing Ol' Faithful. It's safe and it's easy to swap out with most of my wardrobe. As a matter of fact, I have three other pairs of shoes on the way that I could wear with this coord, so like I said, it's an easy swap to change up this look.
In The Navy
Hat - Link Blouse - Your Highness OTKs - Meta Shoes - Rainbow |
The biggest issue I have with blue being my color of choice is that, like many other colors, there are a million shades and a million undertones. I realized that I only have ONE pair of navy blue OTKs, which makes sense because I prefer tights over most things. This coord is also the first time I've actually worn these Meta socks, oops, XP
For this coord, I'd probably change my shoes or blouse for something else navy. I like each piece individually, but I'm not sure I like them at the same time, :/
Maybe if I had some brown shoes and a brown hat? I'm totally open to suggestions on how to improve this coord. I love the way the blouse looks here though.
Poetry Slam
Beret - eBay Blouse - Amazon Belt - Grove Deer Moon of Eternal Day OP Tights - Offbrand Shoes - MoMo Shoes |

Paper Hearts
Beret - eBay Blouse - Link Knee Socks - Link Shoes - Taobao (no link; they don't make them anymore, T_T) Bag: Smile Nasu (Shop Link) |
Fun fact: I'm allergic to red dye! In saying that, I'm wearing a red-based tartan print with a red hat and carrying a red bag, bahaha. I try not to own too many red things because my red dye allergy is extremely inconsistent, and I never know what would trigger it. I own some red items but not many, and I'm always reluctant to buy more red things because I don't want to deal with breaking out in hives during a Lolita meet.
Thankfully, none of these items give me an allergic reaction, so I decided to follow the heart motif on the front of the dress, and grab all my heart-shaped items for this coord. I didn't expect to like this look as much as I do!

Summer School
Blouse - Link Wristcuffs - Elegant Cat Socks - Offbrand Bag - Haruhi Clover (Shop Link) Shoes - Taobao |
I imagined wearing this coord on a bright, summer day when it's too hot for a long blouse and tights, and I just want to feel the wind on my legs.
I just ordered a pair of white tea parties that I think would be even better with this coord, but since they're not here yet, I went with my wooden platforms. I didn't care for the way the collar of my blouse was sitting on the JSK's collar,, but the short sleeve style was perfect.
Mostly, I feel like Country style doesn't really suit this JSK as much as other styles. Out of all the coords, I feel like this one looked the most "off". Maybe I was just too tired after putting together 4 other coords, and I got desperate, LOL.

So what'd you think of these coords? If you have any suggestions or feedback for these outfits, let me know! The links for each of these items can be found throughout my blog, but if there's a specific item you want the link for, please don't hesitate to let me know!
Until next time, my wonderful readers~!

Oh. I was going to suggest a pair of wine red boots for the navy coordinate, since the dress is red-based, but then I read about your allergy. But maybe with boots it wouldn't be too bad since you'd have at least one layer of socks or tights to protect you? (And possibly more, either because the boots could be lined or you could just wear an extra pair of socks of whatever thickness is comfortable.) The Paper Hearts looks is probably my favourite though, it has such romantic vibes, perfect for a Valentine's Day meet or just for a date.
ReplyDeleteHaha, yes, my dye allergy is extremely inconsistent so most likely, I'd be ok with wine red boots!
DeleteI'm glad to hear you liked my coord, :) You described the exact feeling I was going for with Paper Hearts!
I must say the poetry slam stole my heart! But all of them are wonderful! A tartan print is always so cheerful <3
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I think the Poetry coord was my favorite coord in the line-up too!
